While I was away from social media working on my final MEd paper and project, India was burning in multiple places over a malicious scheme introduced by Modi's government to 'harvest' young and tender boys, 17 to 21, to fight and supposedly preserve law and order in conflict zones.
Some Indians resisted the idea. When I returned to social media only a couple days back, except from one of my Indian friends criticizing it, I did not see any comment or observation from any other patriotic, moral, and 'god-fearing' of my Indian friends, the likes of which I have in large number as my friends on social media.
Indians immediately knew that this scheme by the Modi government was not meant to benefit them. There was hardly any financial and job security in the scheme. It was only meant to use them as bodies on the battlefield without a financial liability for the Indian government.
The boys would be fighters on contract, children really at seventeen, and left high and dry at twenty-one without a job if they came back home alive.
Modi's intention is to raise a State-sponsored mercenary operative much like Russia's Wagner group. Modi hates Islamic terrorism, but isn't averse to copying their ways. 'Non-State actors' was a term Nawaz Sharif had popularized in response to India's holding Pakistan responsible for the terrorist attacks in Mumbai by Pakistani teenagers some years back. Modi seeks to do something similar through Agnipath, though in a brazenly open manner, possibly out of desperation that not many Indian boys are coming forward these days to do such jobs.
Nationalists betraying the nation. It has always happened in human history.
Truly patriotic Indians keen for a livelihood and for peace saw through Modi's sinister design and went on a rampage.
What else will Modi do to bring down that country, and how long will working class Indians turn the other way when he continues to do evil, only for that evil some day to destroy them and their own children - only time will tell!
