If one has to live among strangers then the preference is always for those who are broad-minded, kind, gentle, tolerant, all-affirming, and nonviolent. It doesn’t matter what their racial, religious, and other traits are. As long as there are socio-economic and lifestyle compatibilities, people are willing to live amidst strangers. Livability is the only trait we seek when we seek natural and diverse community.
But when natural and diversified living fails, we all find security within commonly held artificial identities which eventually fragment society and cause the divided segments to suspect and hate one another.
The key to human unity and peace is to see only the human in one another and appreciate it.
