THE DEMARCATION OF NATIONAL BOUNDARIES IS A GOOD THING
One of the political realities Europeans created for the world in the colonial period was to demarcate the boundaries of colonized nations and help those countries transition to self rule.
It did wonders for some countries. But others have since then continually complained.
So then, were the setting of boundaries and the creating of independent countries good?
My personal opinion is that they were absolutely good and a pertinent need. The world today would have been a much more unruly place if the boundaries of erstwhile colonized countries were not set and the transition to national leadership made by European colonialists before they left. Those were great political acts done with a high sense of responsibility.
When boundaries are set, people are separated and learn to respect others' freedoms leading to relative peace. But when there are no boundaries, the strongest and often the most lawless and brutal man prevails.
To love one's home and country is a bounden human duty. Not to love one's own and to wander into another's territory is to forsake responsibility, invade and cause trouble for those minding their own business.
The world today would have been a violent mess if there were no political boundaries and people freely wandered and occupied open spaces wherever they found them. Things would have been far more chaotic than they are right now in global affairs.
